Purpose
Virginia makes many jail, court, and criminal-justice records available under public-records rules, but Lancaster County does not publish a live county jail roster in the official sources reviewed. The county jail is a local facility for pretrial and local post-conviction custody. VADOC handles state custody and supervision records, while federal and immigration detainees appear in separate federal systems. This site is meant to make those boundaries easier to understand.
